Course Description

First Dam Scary Run Course Maps
Course changes for 2026 — Due to ongoing construction on Canyon Road, we cannot use the usual routes this year. In collaboration with Logan City and River Heights, we’ve created an alternate course that blends familiar streets with some new, scenic stretches.
The 5K will run a single loop, starting and finishing at Merlin Olsen Park at the regular finish line. The 10K will follow the same loop twice: it starts a bit farther north on 300 East and finishes at the usual finish line. This layout gives spectators a great opportunity to cheer on 10K runners as they head out for their second lap.
We think you’ll enjoy the new course — it’s both fun and beautiful. (See the route map above.)
(Hopefully back again in 2027) The 5K and 10K start and finish on 300 E on the east side of Merlin Olsen Park. The 10K follows the 5K course for the first mile. Just past mile 1, the 5K turns right on Crockett Avenue while the 10K continues straight on Canyon Road and heads up along First Dam to the mouth of Logan Canyon. There it turns around and comes back along Canyon Road, making a left on Crockett Avenue to rejoin the 5K course to the finish. In other words, the 10K follows the same route as the 5K but takes an out-and-back excursion in the middle to make up the distance.

Prizes will be raffled during the award ceremony (all registered finishers are eligible, but you must be present at the drawing to win)

$30 preregistered October 1 - October 30, 2026 (until noon)
$35 race day registration - In-person registration starting at 9:00 a.m. Online registration will reopen Saturday at 12:00 AM.

Additional Details

Bathrooms will be available at the start and finish. There will be Port-a-Potties near the starting line and also the restrooms by the pavilion at the park will be open.
There are no bathrooms provided on the course.
There will be 1 aid station on the 10K course that runners will go by twice. No aid stations on the 5K course.
A finish line aid station is provided.
No non-registered runners are allowed on the course.

Costumes are encouraged! We are looking forward to seeing those dressed up!
Update - Dogs are not allowed on the course due to the Insurance policy. They are also not allowed in the Park, so plan accordingly.
Strollers are welcome but must start at the back of the pack of runners to avoid tripping anyone up.
